The weekly change compares the same 200 filling stations with an unleaded price on both days, so a station dropping out of the figures does not move it.
382 of the 814 stations seen during the week changed at least one price.
The cheapest unleaded in Scotland on Sunday 18 October 2026 was 164.9p at Barrhill Garage, Cumnock (KA18 1PW); the most expensive was 209.9p at Mackenzie Stores, Portree (IV51 9JS), a gap of 45.0p, or £22.50 on a 50-litre tank.
The cheapest diesel was 184.9p at Costco Wholesale Edinburgh, Edinburgh (EH20 9BY), members only.
Across the UK, unleaded was down 0.8p over the same week, at 172.7p, which puts Scotland 1.1p above the national average.
Among the towns of Scotland, unleaded fell most in Airdrie (down 3.8p to 172.7p), Dumfries (down 3.3p to 172.6p), Hamilton (down 3.0p to 172.2p) and rose most in Perth (up 0.7p to 174.9p).
"Drivers in Scotland paid 1.3p less for a litre of unleaded this week. On a 50-litre tank, that is £0.65 less than a week earlier. The gap between the cheapest and the dearest forecourt in Scotland is 45.0p, so where you fill up still matters more than when." said Jacky A., editor of fuelpricetoday.co.uk.

How the figures are computed
Each average is the mean of the prices changed in the last 7 days at the filling stations of Scotland, motorway services left out and prices more than 25p from the day's median discarded. The cheapest and most expensive stations are judged against the stations within 10 km, so that a typing error cannot top the list. The week runs from Monday to Sunday.
