How this site works

Every price here comes from Fuel Finder, the official UK feed operated by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Since The Motor Fuel Price (Open Data) Regulations 2025 came into force, filling stations are legally required to publish their prices and to report any change within 30 minutes.

We pull the whole feed every three hours: 8,056 stations and around 26,280 prices each time. Last refreshed 7 Sep 2026.

Because compliance with the 30-minute rule is uneven, and the gap is large enough to change which station looks cheapest. Some brands report several times a day; others go weeks without an update. A price that has not moved in six weeks is not wrong exactly — it is just not news.

So we do three things rather than hide the problem. Every price carries the time it was last updated. Averages and rankings use only prices updated in the last 7 days. And stations whose price is older than that are pushed to the bottom of any “cheapest first” list rather than sitting at the top on the strength of a stale figure.

Any town with 3 or more filling stations. Below that there is nothing to compare, and a page listing a single station would waste your time. The feed's own town field is inconsistent — it contains entries like “Greater Manchester” alongside actual towns — so we also rebuild the country and region from the postcode, which is present for every station.

The official feed gives you today only. We keep a daily record so you can see whether a price is high or low by local standards rather than in the abstract. We started collecting on the day this site launched, so there is not much history yet — it builds up day by day.

• Whether a pump is actually working, or whether the station has run dry.
• Loyalty discounts, app-only prices or supermarket fuel vouchers.
• Prices at stations that do not report at all. A handful are missing from the feed entirely.
• Anything about quality. All UK forecourt fuel meets the same standards regardless of price.

Prices are indicative. The totem on the forecourt is the only price that counts.
