  • Northern Ireland165.6p−7.3p
  • Wales173.1p+0.2p
  • England173.9p+1.0p
  • Scotland174.3p+1.4p

Northern Ireland is the cheapest part of the UK to fill up: 8.3p a litre below England, or about £4.15 on a 50-litre tank. The dearest nation is Scotland at 174.3p. The red across the west of Scotland is real but thin: those patches are single expensive forecourts colouring a sparsely served area, drawn paler for that reason. Averaged out, the Highlands and islands come to 177.6p against 173.8p elsewhere in Scotland, a gap of +3.8p. That is far less than the +18.8p you pay for not leaving the motorway.
