Fuel Price Today

About Fuel Price Today

Fuel Price Today is an independent website that publishes the price of petrol and diesel at every filling station in the United Kingdom, keeps a daily record of those prices and turns it into figures anyone can check: town averages, brand comparisons, weekly bulletins and open data files.

Who runs it

The site is written and maintained by Jacky A., who answers the mail sent to contact@fuelpricetoday.co.uk. It has no link with any fuel retailer, supermarket, oil company, price comparison business or government department, and no one pays to appear on it or to be ranked higher.

Why it exists

Since The Motor Fuel Price (Open Data) Regulations 2025 came into force, every UK filling station must publish its prices and report each change within 30 minutes. The government releases them as raw data for developers, not as something a driver can read. This site exists to make that data useful: to say which station near you is cheapest today, whether your town pays more than the next one, which brands report on time and what prices did last week.

The official feed only ever shows today. We have kept a copy of every day since 7 Sep 2026, 61 days so far, so the site can say whether a price is high or low by local standards and not just quote it.

How the figures are produced

We collect the whole feed every three hours, 8,149 stations at the last count, clean the brand names, postcodes and positions, and compute every average, ranking and change from that record at the moment the page is served. No figure on the site is typed by hand.

Averages and rankings leave out prices that have not changed for a month, and every price shows when it last changed. The details, and what the data cannot tell you, are on how this site works. The cleaning of the station list is described on the station list page, and the whole record is free to download.

How it is funded

By advertising. Advertisers have no say over what is published, and the order of any list on the site is set by price alone. The site sells nothing, has no affiliate links and asks for no personal details; see the privacy page for what the advertising sets in your browser.

Corrections

Prices are published as the retailers report them. If a station's price, address or position is wrong, the retailer is the one who can fix it at the source, but tell us too: where the error is ours (a brand filed under the wrong name, a station in the wrong town), we correct it and the fix applies to every page at the next update. Write to contact@fuelpricetoday.co.uk or see the contact page.

The data elsewhere

The same daily record is published as an open dataset on GitHub, Kaggle, Zenodo and DEV, under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
