Across the UK, unleaded was down 0.4p over the same week, at 174.1p, which puts Scotland 0.9p above the national average.

Among the towns of Scotland, unleaded fell most in Isle of Lewis (down 1.9p to 176.4p), Ayr (down 1.0p to 171.2p), East Kilbride (down 1.0p to 174.6p) and rose most in Dumfries (up 0.8p to 176.4p), Glasgow (up 0.5p to 176.0p), Dunfermline (up 0.3p to 178.2p).

The gap between the cheapest and the dearest forecourt in Scotland is 48.0p, so where you fill up still matters more than when." said Jacky A., editor of fuelpricetoday.co.uk.

How the figures are computed

Each average is the mean of the prices changed in the last 7 days at the filling stations of Scotland, motorway services left out and prices more than 25p from the day's median discarded. The cheapest and most expensive stations are judged against the stations within 10 km, so that a typing error cannot top the list. The week runs from Monday to Sunday. Details on how this site works.
