The weekly change compares the same 528 filling stations with an unleaded price on both days, so a station dropping out of the figures does not move it.

620 of the 801 stations seen during the week changed at least one price.

The cheapest unleaded in Scotland on Sunday 27 September 2026 was 161.9p at Creetown Service Station, Creetown (DG8 7DA); the most expensive was 199.9p at Cairn Lodge Services, Lanark (ML11 0RJ), a gap of 38.0p, or £19.00 on a 50-litre tank.

The cheapest diesel was 175.0p at Papay Community Cooperative, Orkney (KW17 2BU).

Across the UK, unleaded was up 1.7p over the same week, at 173.7p, which puts Scotland 1.0p above the national average.

Among the towns of Scotland, unleaded fell most in Perth (down 0.1p to 175.9p) and rose most in Shetland (up 4.0p to 176.7p), Arbroath (up 3.0p to 173.3p), Ayr (up 2.9p to 170.6p).

"Drivers in Scotland paid 1.7p more for a litre of unleaded this week. On a 50-litre tank, that is £0.85 more than a week earlier. The gap between the cheapest and the dearest forecourt in Scotland is 38.0p, so where you fill up still matters more than when." said Jacky A., editor of fuelpricetoday.co.uk.

How the figures are computed

Each average is the mean of the prices changed in the last 7 days at the filling stations of Scotland, motorway services left out and prices more than 25p from the day's median discarded. The cheapest and most expensive stations are judged against the stations within 10 km, so that a typing error cannot top the list. The week runs from Monday to Sunday. Details on how this site works.
